My A&A Journey: Highlights and Lessons

All good things come to an end.

This rings particularly true as I currently wrap up my four-month work placement at A&A. It feels like only yesterday, I was walking into the office for the first time, eager to learn and embrace new challenges.

To truly convey my experience at the firm, allow me to rewind to the very beginning — the first week of January 2026.  I joined A&A through the Law Practice Program (LPP) offered through the Toronto Metropolitan University. The LPP serves as an alternate route to completing Ontario’s experiential training requirement, which is an integral component of becoming a licensed lawyer. To successfully complete the LPP, students must first engage in a four-month practical training program that runs from August to December. This training is a culmination of various webinars, assessments and assignments that cover a wide range of legal areas. After passing the training requirement, students then complete a four-month work placement from January to April.

Having had a keen interest in business law throughout law school, I was ecstatic to join A&A. The firm’s focus on business law, particularly in the realm of drafting and transactional work, aligned perfectly with my interests. I was also looking forward to practically applying the skills and knowledge that I learned over the course of my legal education. I’m happy to report that my work placement proved to be as promising as I had hoped!

In the last four months, I had the opportunity to support various corporate files and gain exposure to an array of corporate matters. From familiarizing myself with contracts to conducting due diligence review, I gained in-depth insight and experience across several aspects of business law.

As this chapter now comes to a close, there are several takeaways I intend to carry forward with me. First, I am more excited than ever to continue building on my professional and substantive knowledge of corporate law. Second, and equally as important, are the wonderful memories I made at A&A, which I will always look back upon fondly.
