Do you have a Command Centre

There have been a few changes here at Andriessen & Associates, and they have been both exciting and necessary.

When I say a few changes, I mean a few offices have been switched, new furniture has been ordered, and the Firm Operations Manager now has her own office. Yes, the Firm Operations Manager is me—so yes, I got my own office.

Some may think, “Oh wow, you got your own office,” and while that may not sound like a big deal to everyone, it is exciting to me—and, in my role, it was also necessary.

A little background: I have been with Andriessen & Associates for 25 years now (in case you missed it on LinkedIn, we had quite the celebration).  One year ago, I was promoted to Sr. Law Clerk and Firm Operations Manager. At the time, I was sharing an office with our corporate clerk, someone I work closely with. As my responsibilities grew, it became clear that I needed access to a private workspace.

The move took organization, coordination with the furniture company and IT, and a long day of getting settled into the new space while still keeping up with the work that needed to be done. Some people worked from home because that made the most sense, while the worker bees in the office kept everything moving. See? Very exciting.

An operations manager is “a senior leader who oversees a company’s daily business activities, manages resources and improves workplace efficiency,” and my new office has now been dubbed the “Command Centre,” courtesy of Ariel Dorfman.

I was not the only one who moved on up. Robin Mann and Ariel Dorfman also moved into bigger and brighter spaces, and the excitement has been shared throughout the office.

Being able to focus on my work from the Command Centre—where I am writing this blog—has already made a difference. It was necessary, yes, but still very exciting.
