Canada is #1 at the Olympics (right now) and in Business

What a great morning to wake up Canadian – we currently are in first place in the Olympic Medal tally.

We have a lot to be proud of as a country: this goes well beyond our ability to ski, skate, curl & hurtle down icy tracks on a small sled facing forward. We are a great country for business.

I know a lot of what I blog about deals with the frustrations businesses can encounter in the legal system, but that shouldn’t overshadow all the positives of this country when it comes to doing business here.

We have a Court system that is stable and provides decisions that can be looked to by companies when planning their activities here as providing relative certainty of the result of those decisions.

We have a Court system that requires the loser to pay the legal fees of the winner, thereby reducing the frivolous litigation that is rampant in the USA.

We have a banking system that is stable and didn’t fall victim to the mortgage crisis in the USA.

We are a democracy, open to discussing competing interests in the economy, such as selling our resources without destroying our environment.

Today I am a proud Canadian (of Dutch heritage and they’re #2 in the medal count) not only because We are Winter, but also because I live in a Country that has great business opportunities and potential for growth.
